Spring Makeup Wishlist

I felt like this entire winter I have been in a makeup rut. I barley bought any makeup and my day to day looks were minimal to no makeup. Now that it’s March and technically kind of, almost Spring, I am more inspired and excited to get back out in the makeup game and pick up these beauties listed below.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk
charlotte_tilbury_lips_lipstick_matte_revolution_pillow_talk
CT Matte Revolution lipsticks are one of my favorite formulas. I have the shade Bond Girl and I’ve been wanting to get another. Pillow Talk is the most popular shade so I feel like that’s a perfect next purchase.

Ofra Cosmetics Rodeo Drive Highlighter

Screen Shot 2019-03-07 at 3.07.53 PM
Although this highlighter is not new by any means, it’s a cult favorite that has been raved about online for years. I have always wanted to try it but never got around to it. I think this Spring I am finally going to purchase.

Jouer Cosmetics Bouquet D’Amour Six Shade Blush Palette
JOCO0238F_1_L
Jouer is a brand that I have been so intrigued by. I recently bought one of their highlighters and I love it. I have heard amazing things about their blushes and this palette looks perfect for Spring and Summer.

Hourglass Caution™ Extreme Lash Mascara

I am always on the hunt for an amazing mascara. I have tried so many and still only have one absolute favorite. I heard great things about the Hourglass Caution mascara and Hourglass is one of my favorite beauty brands.

BH Cosmetics Brillance Bronzer

2537911

Bronzers are my favorite makeup product, so I am always eager to expand my collection. I find that some of my favorite bronzers are my drugstore or inexpensive ones. BH Cosmetics is an affordable brand and their Brillance Bronzer seems like the exact satin finish that I like.

BECCA x Khloé Kardashian & Malika Haqq Glow Letters
BC_98895_800x800_0
I have to admit that the packaging on the Glow Letters is what first drew me in. A few brands have done these “rock” type highlighters like Physicians Formula and Guerlain. I have never tried anything like this, so all the more I’m curious.

What’s on your Spring makeup wishlist?

Beauty Blogger Tag 2019

I was scrolling through my reader section and I came across LifeMakeupStyle’s “blogger tag” post. I love reading these tags so I figured I’d do it myself.

1. What is the one product you could not go without?
Mascara! Specifically Essence Lash Princess Sculpted Volume Mascara. I cannot wear makeup without mascara. I can go without everything else, but if I’m doing my makeup, I cannot leave the house without mascara.

2. Favorite Make Up Brand
Hourglass is my favorite. The quality of their products is incredible and I love that they promote being cruelty free.

3. Who is your makeup style inspiration?
Lily Collins! I love how she rocks a red lip. She always looks so vintage and sophisticated.

4. Do you remember the first make up item you purchased?
I believe my first makeup purchase was the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. I was so excited to get this. It was the beginning of my makeup obsession.

5. Who is your favorite beauty blogger or YouTuber?
Kathleenlights. She is hilarious and stunning! She was the first Youtuber I started watching.

6. What are your top 5 makeup brands?
1. Hourglass
2. Becca
3. Too Faced
4. Colourpop
5. Nudestix

7. What is your top beauty tip?
Top tip would be to not wear too much makeup. I think makeup looks so much better when it’s not overdone. I prefer a natural look with a fresh, glowy face.

8. Why did you start blogging?
I have always had a presence online ever since I was a teen. I had a Myspace blog, then a Tumblr and then moved to an actual website. I love sharing my passion for beauty and fashion with others and connecting with followers from all around the world. I also wanted to bring awareness to cruelty free beauty and its importance.

9. Random Fact About Yourself?
I am obsessed with British culture. I love watching British movies/tv shows and practicing my accents.

10. How much do you spend on beauty products every month?
Depends on the month. I have been on a low buy, so I haven’t spent a lot of money recently. I would say about $50.

11. Describe your dream make up haul
There are so many makeup brands that you can only get online. I would love to go through all of those sites and get all the products I’ve been wanting to try.

12. How often do you wash your make up brushes?

Ooo I am horrible at this. I probably wash my brushes every three-four months… don’t kill me.

13. If you could only choose to do one before leaving the house, would you do your hair or your makeup?
Makeup 100%. My hair looks awful everyday. It’s thin and short so I’ve totally given up on it.

15. What advice would you give to a beauty blogger just starting out?
I definitely think that blogging isn’t as popular as it used to be. Unless you have a really “pretty” site with content that sets you apart from the rest, it’s difficult to gain a following. As long as you are having fun and expressing your ideas, just keep at it.

Indie Beauty Brands Shoutout

Of course we all know the popular beauty and makeup brands you can find at Sephora, Ulta or the drugstore, but what about Indie brands that don’t get as much attention? I follow a lot of natural, cruelty free, indie beauty brands on instagram and I am very intrigued but their products. I decided to create this monthly post where I will choose five of brands to feature. Here’s this month’s top five…

1. Shelby Naturals
she
I was obviously first intrigued by this brand because my name is Shelby. I thought it would be cool to have a product with my name on it. After keeping up with their instagram posts and browsing their website, I really loved their products. Shelby Ondrus, the creator of Shelby Naturals, is so passionate about creating clean, effective products and she also shares her knowledge via her Youtube channel.

2. Freck Beauty
screen shot 2019-01-27 at 1.08.08 pm
Freck first grabbed my attention on instagram with their realistic faux freckles product. I love freckles and always wished I had some. The faux freckle trend became popular in the beauty community last year, so I thought it was genius that this brand created a product specially for that. Freck recently expanded into skincare with their range called the Cactus Collection. I hope to continue to see great things from this brand.

3. YLLO Beauty
yllo.png
YLLO Beauty is natural beauty for a cause. I appreciate beauty brands that also give back. Their products involve turmeric which is known to have positive effects on the skin. 10% of purchase proceeds go to Plan International Canada’s Hatibandha Project which helps to end child marriages in south Asian countries.

4. Sundays
screen shot 2019-01-27 at 1.12.12 pm
Finding nontoxic, cruelty free nail polish can be a challenge. Sundays not only has their own line of polish, they also have two studios in New York City where you can get your nails done. They pride themselves on creating a nontoxic, clean environment for their clients. They are revolutionizing the nail industry because pretty much every nail salon around uses products that are toxic and not cruelty free.

5. Kai Fragrance

Like nail polish, clean, cruelty free fragrances are also hard to come by. Kai offers a range of bath, body, home, perfume and hygiene products that are infused with natural essences.

Makeup Products People Use That I Don’t

Lip Liner
lipliner
So many people can’t put lipstick on without lip liner. I never saw a need for lipliner. I can usually line my lips perfectly fine with my lipstick or liquid lipstick. I can understand using lipliner if you are older and need it to prevent your lipstick from bleeding into wrinkles, but younger people using lipliner is just an extra step I’d rather not do.

False Lashes
iconic_lite_1024x1024
I have had a love/hate relationship with falsies for a while. Whenever I see a beauty influencer put falsies on, it looks so good on them. For some reason, I cannot get falsies to look right on my eyes. I have very small lid space, so when I put mascara on, my lashes touch my eyebrows. When I put falsies on, the lashes go almost past my brows. I know you are supposed to trim them, but I just don’t like the look on myself. They don’t look natural on me like they do on some people.

Eyeshadow Primer
screen shot 2019-01-20 at 1.53.12 pm
I sometimes put concealer on my lids as an eyeshadow primer, but I never use an actual eyeshadow primer. On a daily basis, I don’t use concealer. I just blend my foundation over my eyes and then apply shadow.

Brow Gel
glossier-boy-brow-clear
I used to use brow gel when it first became popular. Everyone bought the ABH clear brow gel… you had to have it. I find now that I don’t use it. I usually fill in my brows with a pomade every time I wear makeup. If I apply a clear brow gel over my pomade, it causes my hairs to separate creating gaps that were not there before. Also, I do not like tinted brow gels because those just make my brows look muddy and that’s not a cute look.

Lash Curler
best-eyelash-curlers-247467-1516919841749-main.700x0c
I like the idea of a lash curler but it’s another step in a makeup routine that I just don’t have time for and I don’t care about. I find that they really don’t make a big difference in my lashes. I am fine skipping this step and going straight to applying mascara.

Are there any beauty/makeup products that you see a lot of people use that you don’t? Let me know in the comments below!

Four Favorite Foundation Sticks

fs

Sticks are my favorite when it comes to foundation. I love how easy they are to apply and the formulas work very well on my skin. However, I’ve found that most beauty influencers don’t care for foundation sticks. Don’t let that deter you. You have to try one of my four favorites and see for yourself.

1. Makeup Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation
I discovered this one over the summer and it quickly became one of my favorite foundations of all time. It’s super affordable and the shade range is great. The finish is a dewy finish but not too dewy where you will look greasy through out the day.

2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation
I started using this foundation about a month ago. I was looking to try a new stick foundation and I had heard good reviews. At first I wasn’t sure because it is matte, but after using it for a month, I love it. It is a light coverage, matte foundation that is buildable and looks natural on your skin. I have been into a “no foundation” foundation look lately and this one is perfect.

3. Hourglass Vanish™ Seamless Finish Foundation Stick
I’ve mentioned this foundation many times on my blog. It is my holy grail foundation and even though it is on the pricier side, it is well worth it. The finish is a satin finish that gives you full coverage without looking cakey or thick. There is something magical about this foundation. I highly recommend it.

4. Tarte Clay Stick Foundation
This was one of the first foundations I tried that made me love stick foundations. The finish is similar to the Makeup Revolution where it’s not super dewy, but it gives you a healthy glow without looking greasy.

Have you tried a stick foundation? Which are your favorites?
