My Current Favorite Brow Product

My makeup changes on a day to day basis depending if I’m going to work or going out. I don’t have a set routine, but one product I never leave the house without applying, is a brow product. I have always been a pomade kind of gal because I have naturally full brows that don’t need much shaping or defining. I always thought that a pencil product was better for people with thinner, unshapely brows who need a little extra help creating brows.

One morning before work, instead of reaching for my usual ABH dip brow pomade, I decided to try my Winky Lux Uni-Brow Universal pencil I had gotten in a Boxycharm a while back. This product has a similar tip to the ABH Brow Definer. It has a thicker, angular tip instead of a tiny pencil tip. This style works much better for me because I can quickly cover more space. The smaller tip pencils are better for people who need to create brows and draw lines.

I have been using the Winky Lux pencil regularly for two weeks and I love it. I don’t know if I will ever go back to a pomade. One thing I noticed is that my brows seem thicker than ever! It seems like the product promoted hair growth which seems impossible but just something I noticed.

I have the limited edition packaging version but I will link the product in it’s normal packaging that is available for purchase.

I have always had a presence online ever since I was a teen. I had a Myspace blog, then a Tumblr and then moved to an actual website. 10. How much do you spend on beauty products every month?
Depends on the month. I have been on a low buy, so I haven’t spent a lot of money recently. I would say about $50.

11. Describe your dream make up haul
There are so many makeup brands that you can only get online. I would love to go through all of those sites and get all the products I’ve been wanting to try.

12. How often do you wash your make up brushes?

13. If you could only choose to do one before leaving the house, would you do your hair or your makeup?
Makeup 100%. My hair looks awful everyday. It’s thin and short so I’ve totally given up on it.

15. What advice would you give to a beauty blogger just starting out?
I definitely think that blogging isn’t as popular as it used to be. Unless you have a really “pretty” site with content that sets you apart from the rest, it’s difficult to gain a following. As long as you are having fun and expressing your ideas, just keep at it.

COVERGIRL is Now Cruelty Free!

maxresdefaultIMG_7319-e1529190865103

I never thought I would see the day where a huge drug store beauty brand like COVERGIRL would announce their cruelty free status and Leaping Bunny certification. This is such an incredible step for the beauty industry. With a brand as popular and influential as COVERGIRL, they now have the power to bring more awareness to cruelty free beauty. I hope that this inspires other popular drug store brands like L’Oreal to make the change.

What do you think about COVERGIRL’S change? Will you support COVERGIRL?

September Favorites

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Bond Girl

532655_in_ppimage1 (1)
This lipstick is easily my favorite lipstick of all time. The formula is matte but so comfortable and not drying. In the fall, I gravitate towards deep berry shades because I like how it compliments but blue eyes and lighter skin. In the photo above, I was wearing the lipstick. I like to apply is lightly so it gives my lips a healthy, bitten look.

Kat Von D Sinner Perfume

30005_50ml copy
I love Kat Von D’s Saint and Sinner perfume collection. I purchased her Saint perfume for the spring/summer because it is a lighter, sweeter scent. September I started wearing my deep, spicy fragrances and this one is one of my favorites. As we all know, it’s difficult to find cruelty free perfumes, and Sinner from Kat Von D is a gem!

Color Wow Dream Coat Anti-Humidity Hair Treatment

53180
I found out about this product through my mom who had been recommended it by her hairdresser. I was pleasantly surprised to find that their brand is cruelty free because many products at hair salons are not. You spray a few mists onto your damp, washed hair and then dry and style. My hair get’s extremely frizzy throughout every season, so an anti-frizz product is a must for me. I really noticed a difference with my hair. It was so shiny and after I blow dried, I didn’t have a lot of those broken hairs sticking up like I usually do.

Colourpop Supershock Shadows in Brady and Muse

SHA

This shadow combination has been a go-to look if I need to pop on something quick for work. I start with putting Brady in my crease and then add Muse all over my lid. You don’t even need brushes for this look since they are Colourpop’s creamy, Supershock formula. I love the Supershock shadows because not only are they pigmented and easy to use, they are so convenient for my busy life.

Cruelty Free Drugstore Makeup Wish List

It’s been a hot minute since I have bought drugstore makeup. It’s difficult to find cruelty free makeup at the drug store, because the majority of the brands aren’t cruelty free. Here is my list of products I have on my wish list and the majority of these you can get at Ulta.

Makeup Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation

6054
Foundation sticks are my absolute favorite. It seems like not a lot of people enjoy them as much as liquid foundations but for me, they apply and look so much better on my skin. My two favorite stick foundations are the Tarte Clay Stick and the Hourglass Vanish Stick foundation. This is a new product to Makeup Revolution and all the reviews I’ve seen so far have been great. Definitely need to try this.

Burt’s Bees Goodness Glows Liquid Foundation

NI-37179_BBd_FCE_BTL_Liquid_Porcelain_Frnt_1005_21-04-17-1528

After sorting through my makeup collection, I noticed that I am lacking in foundations. Now that it’s becoming Summer, my skin color changes, so I need to buy some darker foundations. The Burt’s Bees foundation is another one I’d love to try. I have been super impressed with the Burt’s Bees makeup I have tried so far. Their blushes are amazing. Can’t wait to try this.

Flower Beauty Light Illusion Liquid Foundation
flower_li_foundation_m3_classic_tan_1
The last drug store foundation on my wishlist is the Flower Beauty Light Illusion. I haven’t tried many products from Flower Beauty, but I have heard good things about this foundation and I love a dewy foundation.

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Conceal & Contour

makeup-revolution_conceal-define-full-coverage-conceal-contour_c10
To go with the Makeup Revolution stick foundation, I want to try their new concealer. People have been comparing this to the Tarte Shape Tape because it has a similar doe foot applicator. I want to test out if it’s similar. However, I’m actually hoping it’s a little less full coverage than the Shape Tape. In the Summer, I tend to like my makeup to look more natural because it’s too hot to be caked on with makeup.

Essence Brighten Up! Banana Powder
essence-polvos-brighten-up-banana-powder
Banana or yellowed toned powders are my favorite for setting my under eye concealer. I am currently using the Becca Hydra Mist powder which I love, but I notice it doesn’t do a great job at brightening. Can’t wait to try this powder, plus it’s only $4.99.

Essence Sun Club Matt Bronzing Powder
essence-sun-club-polvo-bronceador-mate-gran-tamano-02-morenas-piel-oscura-1-27327
Bronzers are my favorite makeup product so I am always looking to add more to my collection. I usually gravitate towards glowy bronzers so I don’t have a lot of matte bronzers. One of my favorite beauty Youtubers, Nicole Renee raves about this so I’m excited to see if I like it.

Milani Bold Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette
1_1_8_1_3358977
I have never tried Milani’s eyeshadows and this new palette looks very promising. I love how high quality this looks and I like that it’s a good neutral palette with a mix of mattes and metallics. This is great for everyday work makeup. I am excited to try Milani’s formula but the only downside is I don’t think you can get these in store.

Tips on How to go Cruelty Free

A lot of people love animals and are interested in going cruelty free with their makeup. However, not everyone knows where to start. Here are my top tips on how to make the switch to cruelty free beauty and makeup products. This is exactly how I made the switch.

1

Which companies test on animals? That is the first question we need to answer. My favorite source that will help us answer this is Cruelty-Free Kitty. Here you can find up to date lists of companies that do and do not test on animals. I recommend checking out her “Companies That Test on Animals” post. You can get an overall idea of the companies that test on animals and while going through the list, you can start to do step two!

2
Make up products on wooden background
While you are scrolling through the list of non cruelty-free makeup, I find it the perfect time to start organizing your makeup collection. You can make two or three piles. 1. Cruelty-free 2. Non cruelty-free and 3. Unsure. If you have products that weren’t listed on the website, put these in the unsure pile. You can go back later and do more specific research.

Once you have your piles you can make the decision to either continue using the non cruelty-free products and not repurchase when they are empty, or you can trash or donate the products. I know trashing the products can be difficult because you have spent money on them. That’s why I would personally either use them up or donate, just long as you promise not to repurchase.

3
Finding dupes has really made it easy for me to be cruelty-free. Once you realize that you can find a similar cruelty-free product that works the same, if not better than your non cruelty-free product, you’ve hit the jackpot! Here’s some of my favorite dupes.

Get the Colourpop No Filter concealer instead of the Maybelline Fit Me concealer.
concealr
Get the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara instead of the Lancome Monsieur Big mascara.
mascara
For a color dupe of Mac’s Velvet Teddy, get the Wet n’ Wild MegaLast Lip color in the shade Bare it All.
lips
I really hope this was helpful for those of you who are interested in going cruelty free. For those of you who weren’t interested in going cruelty-free, I hope I inspired you to make the change. With these tips, it is simple, but if you have anymore questions, please leave me a comment.
