2017 was a year filled with great beauty finds. Not only did I launch shelrosebeauty, but my passion for makeup grew as I discovered amazing new cruelty-free brands and products. Here’s a list of my 2017 best…
Essence is a brand I discovered in 2017. I think they make the best drugstore price mascaras ever. I have tried all the mascaras in their Lash Princess range but the Sculpted Volume in the black and purple tube is hands down my favorite. This mascara gives you length, volume and curl. It’s definitely a false lash effect mascara so if you like dramatic lashes, this one is perfect.
Bronzers are my favorite makeup product so you can imagine I am very selective and picky when it comes to them. I discovered the Sunlit Bronzer from Becca this year and it has become a staple in my makeup collection. I use the shade Capri Coast almost everyday. I gives my skin a beautiful, bronzed tan with a hint of sheen and glow. The shimmer is not overwhelming. It really is a perfect mixture.
Before I went cruelty-free with my products, I used to use the Maybelline Fit Me concealer and the color was perfect. For the longest time I could not find anything similar to the shade sable until I came across the NYX concealer in the color sand beige. This color was almost a spot on match. I love the coverage and consistency of the NYX concealer as well.
As a super fan of Colourpop, I knew I had to try all their new pressed products they released in 2017. I love the shadows and bronzers but specifically, I have fallen in love with their blushes. I have the shade Weirdough and it is the perfect peachy, pink yet neutral blush. The color is so unique, you have to try it for yourself.
Although this palette didn’t launch in 2017, I have been using it so much this year. I had always loved Makeup Geek for their eyeshadows and when my favorite beauty Youtuber released a collab palette with MG, I knew I had to try it. I soon realized that the MG highlighter formula is one of, if not the best formulas I have tried. These highlighters do not sit on top of your skin. They give your skin a wet, smooth finish. It looks like the glow is actually coming from you.
I am obsessed with lip balms and anything that will hydrate. I suffer from dry lips year round so you can always find a lip balm in my bag. I have tried different kinds from Sarah Hap to Glossier, but none are better than Lanolips. I recently discovered this brand and I find it so fascinating. All of their products contain Lanolin which is an wax humanely extracted from sheeps wool after they get sheered. Lanolin most closely resembles the oil human skin produces which is why I think my skin loves it so much.
What are your beauty favorites of 2017 and what do you look forward to in 2018?
lots of luv – shelrosebeauty
